During tough times, it is imperative to be as resourceful as one can be to get through it.
Tough times create opportunity for tough people. The ones who are willing to be resourceful and take action are the ones who will seize the opportunity.
In 1665, Cambridge University shut down due to the Great Plague of London which forced Isaac Newton to stay home. It was during this time where he invented calculus, parts of optic theory in physics and discovered the existence of gravity.
It is incredible what opportunities are out there during times of crisis.
Warren Buffet increased his position in the stock market during the 2008 Financial Crisis; investing in companies such as Goldman Sachs, General Electric and Dow Chemical. Within just three years, Buffet made billions through the structure of these deals. His theory was “be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful.”
The people who bought Clorox stocks in January must have made a fortune by now.
Currently there is a sense of social anxiety when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic. Concern is slowly turning into panic when we see behaviors such as the hoarding of toilet paper. It is during these times where it is most important to create an environment of community, calm and respect. Listen to the facts and start utilizing action based on the facts. Take action not based on panic, but based on progress. Take care of your fellow man or woman by doing whatever you can to not catch or spread the virus. Respect what is happening in the world and start being resourceful. It is incredible what opportunities are out there.
