My Mom's Battle with Cancer...

Our Weekly 2 Minute Read

Edition 65 - September 29, 2019

Last Tuesday, we announced the release of our limited edition “boobski.” t-shirt.

With the calendar quickly changing to October next week, we seek to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Something I have a personal connection to.

As you may or may not know, my mom has been fighting her battle with breast cancer for the past 18 months.

She’s had to endure five surgeries, numerous doctor appointments, and countless hours of recovery in the hospital and in her home.

Throughout her journey, she kept telling herself one thing…

“One day at a time.”

Obviously, cancer is no joke. You hear stories, but nobody can ever prepare you for it.

From initial diagnosis, it’s hard to not automatically assume worst case scenario. It’s human nature.

My mom had no idea the journey ahead. Neither did we.

Some days were good. Some days not so much.

But it was out of her control.

So she narrowed her focus on the single day ahead of her.

Like you can imagine, initially she was scared. She was frustrated. She was embarrassed.

But as recovery progressed, she turned such a nightmare experience into a positive light - offering advice and her support to friends who later received similar diagnoses.

My mom was always and always will be strong.

Fast forward to today, her recovery is not yet over (she has one more major surgery in a few weeks).

We’ll continue to be right by her side - even though she still insists on doing everything herself.

And while it still sucks, she’ll continue to fight back on her road to recovery the only way she knows how…

“One day at a time.”
